Why choose Extruded Feed for Aquatic Animals

Brief Classification of Aquatic Feed
Based on the different processing technology, we can classify granular feed into extruded feed and pressed feed. Since the temperature, pressure, rotating speed and density of pellets can be controlled during the extrusion process, the buoyancy of extruded feed directly influenced by those factors can be adjusted. In general, there are sinking, slow sinking and floating feed three types of extruded feed while pressed feed has no buoyancy in water, so it is sinking feed.

Why Choose Extruded Feed for Aquatic Animals
1) Extruded feed has wild applications. Different aquatic animals have different eating habits. For example, many frogs and some kinds of fish like to have their meal on the surface of water while rudd and shrimp are prefer to eat under the water. The three types of extruded feed can meet different eating habits of different aquatic animals.
2) It is palatable, nutritious and easy to digest. Most aquatic animals have relative simple digestive systems, which is an important factor should be taken into consideration when making aquatic feed. The material in extruder is heated to high temperature, which can destroy fiber structure and anti-nutrients and increase the starch gelatinization degree. Thus, extruded feed is beneficial for aquatic animals to absorb nutrients as much as possible. What’s more, it is palatable for aquatic animals, which can increase animals’ food intake.
3)  It is safe and healthy to aquatic animals. When using floating fish feed pellet machine, the high temperature during extruding process can kill salmonellosis and bacteria in raw material completely. Therefore, aquatic animals fed by extruded feed can avoid suffering from some diseases caused by those harmful substances.
4) It has better stability in water. Extruded feed is hydrophilic and stable in water, which means that it does not contaminate the water quality seriously. At the same time, it does not cause much waste.
5)  It is easy for feeding management. Since feed is floating on the surface of water, aquatic animals swim upward to have their meal. Therefore, the feed consumption and the growth condition of animals can be known by observing animals when they are eating.
